Research on the Rheological Properties of Asphalt Binder Modified by Fume Silica and Crumb Rubber Compound

This study investigates the effect of using Fume Silica (Aerosol 300) alone and together with crumb rubber (CR) in bitumen modification on traditional rheological properties binder compares it to SBS modified binder. Using aerosol additive at rates 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2% were determined as most convenient ratio CR+aerosol binders prepared per this ratio. The subjected softening point, viscosity, frequency sweep, bending beam rheometer (BBR), Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) tests context study. Besides, optimum conditions according response functions by designing an experiment statistical regression Response surface methodology (RSM). results indicate that is 1.5%. With use 1.5% 6% CR weight, was found (1) point increases temperature sensitivity decrease comparison other binders, (2) consistency increases, (3) complex modulus values increase become more resistant rutting, (4) low-temperature parameters enhance performing flexible behavior, (5) there may be physical changes structure even though no chemical reaction additives, (6) experimental data theoretical obtained from RSM method are consistent analysis.
